SP13 Questionnaire

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I like natural fibers and blends: wool, cotton etc. But I don't mind if there is some acrylic material also, it's the look that counts. ;) I'm not very picky when it comes to yarns. I knit mostly hats, beanies, scarves and little things, so the material isn't so important to me. When I knit something for my unborn baby, then I make sure that the yarn is soft and suitable for sensitive babys skin.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
Nothing. :/ My needles and hooks are always somewhere where they are not supposed to be...missing. Mainly they are in my bedside table draver and in one big box where all my yarns are also. It would be wice to buy some kind of needlecase.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I learned to knit when I was 8-9 years old. Since then I knitted mainly at school (wasn't very devoted knitter). About a year ago I started to read craft and knit blogs and since then I've been practicing knitting again. My level skill is definitely beginner.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I have an Etsy.com favorite list and Amazon wish list.

5. What's your favorite scent?
I like scents such as vanilla, orange and Christmassy scents.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Yes. :) I like especially chocolate and plain/fruit flavoured toffee.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I like to decorate, dye yarn, make stone jewelry, paint and draw (although I havent been painting or drawing properly this year at all). I would also like to sew in the near future. I have this one really cute Japanese sewing book (Aranzi Aronzo: Fun Dolls) which guides you how to make funny dolls... that would be on my list next..after I finish all my other projects like Christmas gifts etc. I don't spin, but I really like handspun yarns. They are so lively and a little bit bohemian like.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I like pop and dance music. I listen mainly radio channels and I don't really buy or listen to any CD's.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
My favourite colours are white and all light colours. When I knit for myself, I usually use white or soft mixed tones. I also use basic colours like grey, brown and black..or pure red or pink... When I knit for my baby, I like to use bright and happy colours like all shades of red, pure green and light green, pink, orange.. I can't stand forest green, purple or aubergine.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I'm married and we are expecting a child. We have one guinea pig.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
I wear scarves almost always, I love scarves. I use caps and mittens too. I don't like ponchos.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Scarves and caps. And baby things. Because they are easy to knit and I can learn basic techniques easily by knitting little things.. I'm not very fast knitter so that's why also. Maybe some day I can knit something bigger, like cardigans. I've tried but they became shapeless and didn't fit for me at all. Too much work for nothing. But one day I will try again. :)

13. What are you knitting right now?
Slippers, scarf and cap.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Yes :)

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I have only used aluminum and plastic needles. I don't really have any kind of favorite. I use circular needles when I can (when I knit caps) and straight needles when I knit scarves. I prefer both..depens on the pattern, which is easier.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
No.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
Does this mean, how old is my oldest knitting project what I haven't been able to finish? Sweater. I started it in middle school.

18. What is your favorite holiday? What winter holiday do you observe?
Christmas.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
Nothing special. I like to buy things that I use..useful things (my English....sigh). Yarn, brooches, cute buttons, art cards (which I hang on the wall).

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I would like to own few Finnish knitting books (such as Puikoissa! and maybe also easy knitting books that are in English...and Japanese crochet books) where the patterns would be modern and fun. It's really hard for me to follow patterns in English, because I'm just learning to knit. There are lots of great knitting books in English, but I can't name any..I like those books and knit magazines where the patterns are easy. I would like to buy for example Noro yarns and multicoloured (handspun or hand dyed) yarns, but it changes. :) I haven't got any knitting magazine subscriptions, but I buy sometimes Finnish knitting magazines like Novita, Suuri käsityölehti and Moda.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Yes, almost all of them ;)

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
No, I'm not. My foot measurements: 37-38 (eur), 6-6½ (us).

23. When is your birthday?
November 20th.

24. Are you on Ravelry? If so, what's your ID?
Yes, my ID is helmineiti.
